**NOTE** These are the original alternatives developed using the Forest Service's Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS) Pacific Northwest (PN) variant within the Landscape Management System. Using the model without calibration produced tree sizes and densities that where much higher than would be expected on Satsop Forest. A decision was made to use the SMC (Stand Management Coop) variant of the ORGANON growth model. Model outputs fit expected forest growth much better than FVS PN. The initial management alternatives for Satsop Forest have been revised using data projected using ORGANON and Satsop Forest Initial Alternatives (rev 1), published 7 May 2002, supersedes the original Satsop Forest Initial Alternatives, published 9 October 2001.
